5 Simple Office Makeup Looks for Gaining Confidence

I love makeup. I don’t wear it all the time. But gawd, everything about it is magic. I know that it’s not part of every woman’s self-care routine. As for me, makeup helped me in gaining confidence especially during those days when personal issues and pressure at work is taking a toll on me. Having makeup on makes me look polished, feel sexy, and gives me the feeling that “I got this.”

Talking about gaining confidence, I feel that most of us are in need of help in this category. For instance, you just lost your lob, or you found out your boyfriend/husband is cheating?

How do you recover?

Sure, you’ll say, “Of course, start over.”

But, easier said than done, right?

Take one step at a time. Problems will pile up, that’s normal. But gaining confidence to face challenges is a long and twisted journey. Keep breathing. You got this. Makeup will help you get distracted. Let’s kill those negative thoughts with colors.

They say with great makeup comes great skin (we’ll talk more about skincare some other time). But for now, let’s take a look into these 5 simple office makeup looks to help you achieve the best version of yourself.

Office look #1 The vampy red

For this, I recommend: A stunning red lipstick

So, you’ve got your base ready. Your foundation is set, your brows are on fleek, and your winged brown eyeliner is killing it. For this look, you will focus on the lips. Line your lips with a handy-dandy lip liner to avoid the lipstick from bleeding. Then, apply a generous swipe of red lipstick. Make sure you follow the shape of your lips very carefully. Crooked lines are easy to spot on red lipsticks. Then, set it by putting a tissue on top of your lips and it dab face powder.

Office look #2 That’s smokin’

For this look I recommend:

Colourpop Give it to me straight palette

Smoky eyes are best worn during a night out. But you can still pull it off during the day as long as you don’t go all the way with the “smoky” effect. Use a brown shade that’s close to your skin tone as the base of your eyeshadow. Go one shade darker in the outer corners and blend completely. Add shimmers to the inner corners of your eyes, and finish off with a thin coat of mascara. Skip the eyeliner for now. Complete the look with one swipe of lip gloss or your favorite nude lipstick and voila! Your smokey eyes office look is complete.

Office look #3 Au naturel

Do you hate wearing foundation? That’s okay. A trusty concealer is your BFF. You can have one for color correcting, and another for brightening areas on your face like your under eyes, forehead, nose bridge, and chin. This look is so elegant and classy. It’s very clean, and your skin is extra glowy when light hits you. After shaping your brows, bring life to the highest point of your cheeks with a highlighter. Don’t get crazy, for it may emphasize the texture on your face. You can also put some on your lids. Again, don’t put too much to avoid fallouts. Finish off with a nude lipstick and you’re set. Yass, girl. Glow like a goddess.

Office look #4 Pretty in Pink

For this look I recommend:

Pink is kinda hard to pull off, especially at work. Try to avoid barbie pink shades. We aim to look professional, not girly. So for this, the cult favorite Nars blush in Orgasm is your weapon of choice. Finish off with a matte lip cream and brighten up the room with your pink and pretty look.

Office look #5 You glow, gurl!

For this look I recommend

Lastly, you can ditch the matte makeup trend and show your glowy skin. Let’s add color to your cheeks, this time with a cream blush. Cream blushes have excellent staying power. At times, it looks more natural too, compared to powder brushes. Now, go easy on these. They’re highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. Blend them with your fingers. If you think you put too much, brush it off with powder and you’re good to go.

Take one step at a time. Problems will pile up, that’s normal. But gaining confidence to face challenges is a long and twisted journey. Keep breathing. You got this. Makeup will help you get distracted. Let’s kill those negative thoughts with colors.
